Legendary Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz may have been shot for falling afoul of a drug dealer.

The 10-time all-star was shot in the back in his native Dominican Republic on Sunday night outside a Santo Domingo bar.

According to media reports from the Caribbean island nation, Ortiz had been warned his life was in danger.

Ortiz, 43, was allegedly having an affair with a woman who was involved with a powerful Dominican dope dealer.

But Big Papi reportedly ignored the dire warnings and continued seeing the mystery woman. Cops say it was not a robbery or street violence.

“Everything pointed to the fact that it was a personal settling of accounts,” a source told Listin Diario. 

Ortiz is now recovering in a Boston hospital where he was flown by private jet but his recovery may be a long one: The shooting resulted in damage to his liver and large intestine.

His gallbladder had to be removed.

Cops have reportedly arrested one man.

Meanwhile, former NFL star Kellen Winslow Jr., 35, was convicted of raping a 58-year-old homeless woman in San Diego. The tight end was also found guilty of indecent exposure toward the woman and of lewd conduct.

He had also been charged with two other counts of rape involving a 54-year-old hitchhiker and an unconscious teenager in 2003.

But the jury remained deadlocked on six other felony charges, including two more counts of rape involving a 54-year-old hitchhiker last year and an unconscious 17-year-old girl in 2003.

The jury deadlocked on those charges.

During his NFL career, the journeyman was drafted by the Cleveland Browns and also toiled for Tampa Bay, Seattle, New England and the New York Jets.

He faces life in prison.


Tony Joiner was taken into custody in Lake Wales and charged with second-degree murder in the 2016 Valentine’s Day shooting death of Heyzel Obando.

And in Florida, one-time Gators star Tony Joiner, 33, was arrested and charged with the 2016 cold case killing of his wife. Heyzel Obando was found dead in Fort Myers on Valentine’s Day.

Cops immediately ruled the death suspicious and that changed to homicide. He had been arrested twice for domestic violence during their marriage.

Joiner was charged with second-degree murder and is being held in the Polk County Jail.
