The sister of 2012’s Great British Bake Off winner is missing in Portugal after leaving an airport without her passport.
John Whaite has appealed for help after his sister Victoria Cunningham failed to get on her flight home after a trip to Faro.
Mr Whaite wrote: “She has no passport with her.
“If you see her please tell her that her family just want her home safe and sound.
“Apparently she headed towards a petrol station in Faro, leaving the airport trying to take a can of coke w/o payment (can therefore assume no money).
“My other sister Jane and friend Chris are flying out now to try and find her.
“She is vulnerable and could pose a risk only to herself.”
Posting a timeline of what happened, he explained she was unable to board her scheduled flight at 11.05am on Saturday, because of a breakdown and intoxication.
He said she has been diagnosed with depression and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), a condition linked to monthly hormone cycles which can cause anxiety, mood swings and suicidal thoughts.
He said she had been due to fly back on Monday and was dropped at the check-in desk by police, but then left the airport, dumping her own passport.
Mr Whaite added: “Portuguese police have said they don’t have to look for her unless she commits a crime.
“But she has a history of mental illness and suicide risk.
“This behaviour stems from diagnoses of depression and PMDD.”
Ms Cunningham also works in the food industry, running the Tunley Hall Catering Company, which is based in Wigan.
