Legend seems quite deserving of the “Sexiest Man Alive” title, but he admitted that it is nerve-wracking for him as well. He told People: “I was excited, but I was a little scared at the same time because it’s a lot of pressure. Everyone’s going to be picking me apart to see if I’m sexy enough to hold this title. I’m [also] following Idris Elba, which is not fair and is not nice to me.”

When Legend took to Instagram to share with followers about the exciting news, he did not stop comparing himself to Elba. Legend humorously posted a picture of himself as a teenager next to a swoon-worthy photo of Elba, writing in the caption: “1995 John would be very perplexed to be following 2018 @IdrisElba as #SexiestManAlive. Hell, 2019 John is about as equally perplexed but thank you @People for finding me sexy. I’ll take it.”

It seems that, despite having a lot of success, Legend’s humble attitude has always been something many people like about him. No doubt that this also adds a lot to his “sexiness.”

Legend shared with People that his parents instilled such values in him from a young age.

“My parents always taught me that if you’re going to succeed in life, part of success is having humility,” he said. “It’s a good way to live life, treating other people the way you want to be treated.”
