In a rousing speech Saturday night — her first as the nation’s vice president elect — Kamala Harris praised Joe Biden as “a man with a big heart who loves with abandon.”
Speaking to a cheering crowd in Wilmington, Del., Harris lauded the 74 million Americans who voted for the ticket.
“You chose hope and unity, decency,” she said. “And yes, truth.”
To long cheers, Harris noted that her election as the first woman to ascend to the vice presidency will be an inspiration.
“While I may be the first woman in this office, I will not be the last,” she said.
“Because every little girl watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibility,” she said.
“Dream with ambition. Lead with conviction, and see yourselves in a way that others may not,” she said.
“Now is when the real work begins,” she added, before introducing Biden to the stage.
