A suspect is in police custody after an elderly man was found dead and three others were critically injured at a residence in New York City.

Police responded to 221-15 Hempstead Avenue in Jamaica, Queens after receiving a 911 call about an “emotionally disturbed” male who was behaving erratically at around 6.30 a.m., a spokeswoman for the New York Police Department (NYPD) confirmed to Newsweek.

Responding officers discovered a 72-year-old man who was unconscious and unresponsive in a bathroom, the spokeswoman said. He had sustained trauma to the chest, possibly from a stab wound, and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
